Activities

Boating Activities: Try your hand at sailing, or take out a canoe or kayak at no charge.Rent a motor and cruise the North Channel at your leisure exploring the islands and bays.

Excellent Fishing: Walleye, Muskie, bass, Northern Pike, Perch and local trout streams. A short hike on to mountain lakes offer speckled and brown trout. On island bait & tackle shop. Plan a shore lunch and enjoy your day. Motor boat rentals and guides available.

Swimming: Sandy beaches suitable for small non swimmers. Swim from the privacy of your cabin (floating dock). Try your hand at snorkeling.

Hiking: We have trails to explore on the island and for the more adventurous a short boat ride to explore the La Closhe mountains.

Rock Hounds: The island was formed in Hurionian time, on the Precambrian Shield. the island itself is a treasury for geologists and rock hounds. The rock formations offer dramatic contrasts with the white mountains, of the North shore as a backdrop for granite outcroppings and islands of every color from pink to black.

Bird watching: Superb place for viewing birds, over 300 different species, Loons, Blue heron, ducks, cranes, and many more. The best time for sightings of migrating populations are the third week of May into then again during the second half of September into October. In the fall weeks it is possible to see large kettles of hawks and even eagles drifting by in our blue skies.

Naturalist:Endless wildflowers and wildlife abound on the island. It is not unusual for a family of ducks, a moose or our neighborhood great blue heron to be seen from the dining room windows during supper. Other wildlife on the island include raccoons, porcupines, flying squirrels, mink, beaver, deer, ruffed grouse, and loons. A walk through the woods can be fascinating for any naturalist.

Brush and Camera: An endless panorama of Northern Ontario landscape and wildlife, With so much to see no wonder the north channel was the summer home of some of the group of seven. The possibilities are endless.

Indoor and Evening Activities: Billiards, table tennis, darts, cards, board games, and movies available.

Golf: available near by at Esponala Golf and Country club (9 hole course). There are 3 course on Manitoulin; Brookwood Brae Mindemoya's (9 hole course), Manitoulin Country Club, South Gore Bay (9 hole course), Minidoo Valley Golf, between Manitowaning and Wikwemikong (18 hole course).
